The creation of new works always brings moments of profound emotion. At Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy, we’ve already been fortunate to experience several of these magical moments with Fazıl Say. This year, another highlight awaits: to conclude his residency, Fazıl Say will premiere his latest trio, a deeply moving exploration of exile. In stark contrast, Schubert’s Trout presents a very different kind of escape – a fish trying to escape the fisherman’s hook, which Schubert sets to music with a playful, almost carefree tone, while also offering a subtle warning to young women about the dangers of their suitors.
