The days when the harp was (only) associated with the plush salons of the 19th century and delicate female figures are long gone. Harp 2.0 has firmly established itself in the world of concerts and recordings, driven by a new generation of artists who showcase the instrument and its shimmering pearls of repertoire in all their facets. One of these artists is Swiss harpist Tjasha Gafner, trained between the shores of Lake Geneva and the prestigious Juilliard School in New York. Her programme reflects the versatility of the harp: an inspiring mix of classical masterpieces (Tournier, Renié), “modern” sounds (Chertok) and her own arrangements of works originally composed for other instruments – including Bach and Haydn, whose pieces she masterfully adapts to the harp’s elegant tone.
