Lora Markova trained at the renowned school of the legendary “maker of virtuosos” Zakhar Bron. Suported by Leonidas Kavakos, she won the “Tibor Varga Junior” violin competition in Sion in 2021. Since then, she has been studying in Berlin with Kolja Blacher – a disciple of Dorothy DeLay and Sándor Végh, Claudio Abbado’s influential concertmaster, and himself a key figure in Europe’s musical lineage. It is an impressive artistic biography – one that is still only at its beginning. This year, the young Bulgarian makes her debut at the Menuhin Festival Gstaad. Her program shines a spotlight on some of the great violin-piano duos of the early 20th century, giving them a radiant musical stage.
