Alongside Bach’s Chaconne from the Partita No. 2 in D minor (for solo violin) – transformed by Brahms into a breathtaking version for left-hand piano – and Schumann’s brilliantly colourful Carnaval, the 23-year-old New York pianist Maxim Lando presents three dances that he commissioned from the American composer Lowell Liebermann. These pieces are almost as fear-inducing as the Frankenstein figure they bring to life in music!
