Menuhin's Legacy

Sunday, 30. August 2026

6 p.m., Church Rougemont

A solo programme for violin is always a journey inward – a moment that calls for courage. All the more so when, as here, supreme artistry and dazzling technique meet very human, “earthbound” challenges. At the same time, the programme breathes an almost mystical intensity – just think of the Rosary Sonatas by Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber. Daniel Hope embraces this challenge, telling his story through the voice of his Guarneri del Gesù. Like Menuhin before him, Hope turns to the compositions of Westhoff – the presumed model for Bach’s Sonatas and Partitas – and to the steadfastly original Biber. A dialogue across generations, rich in depth, virtuosity and personal resonance.
